

Muscat: The Nizwa Fort in Al Dakhliyah is the most visited in the Sultanate of Oman among castles and forts in the country.
Overall, the forts and castles received 849, 146 visitors compared to 670,875 visitors in 2024 and 558,232 in 2024.
In 2025, These forts and castles received most visitors in the cooler months of February (159,133), November (153,895), December (127,922), January (103,060) and April 74,816), compared to May (29,615), June (23,794) and July (21,933).
According to the annual report of the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), the Nizwa Fort received 296,573 visitors, followed by Muttrah Fort (140,655), Bahla Fort (133,710), Gabreen Castle (123,455), Al Mirani Fort (58,514), Taqah Castle (11,780), Al Hazem Castle (19,533) and Sohar Fort (28,158).
In addition, the private museums in the country received 538,729 visitors compared to 445,997 by government visitors.
Temperatures in Oman between November and April are pleasant and warm for outdoor tourism with temperatures around 20°C- 35°C.
